Fabulous at 50 Spa Day

It was my mum’s 50th birthday a couple of weeks ago so I booked a spa day at The Chester Hotel in Aberdeen as a surprise for her. It was a great way to kick off her weekend of birthday celebrations and to enjoy a mother-daughter day out together.

I chose the half day spa package which included two treatments each followed by a two-course champagne lunch in the hotel bar. I picked a full body hot stone massage (my mum’s favourite treatment!) and a relaxing facial for us both. My mum also received an extra treatment since it was her birthday! Although the spa itself is quite small, the décor is lovely and has a luxurious feel to it. The beauty therapists were really nice and professional and we both thoroughly enjoyed our treatments.

After a lovely morning of pampering, we headed for our lunch, feeling totally relaxed and refreshed. We were allocated a lovely little booth in the bar area for our two-course champagne lunch. The bar had a great atmosphere, the staff were really attentive and the food was lovely too! We chose to have our glass of champagne first while we mulled over the extensive menu and to toast my mum’s birthday. We then shared a bottle of white wine with our lunch and sampled a cocktail afterwards too! I had also arranged for a bouquet of flowers and a balloon to be delivered to our table as an extra treat for my mum and she was delighted when they arrived!

From the moment we stepped in to the spa in the morning, with the therapists greeting my mum with a ‘Happy Birthday’ – to the moment we left the restaurant after a delicious meal and a few drinks later – we had such an amazing day and my mum was made to feel so special by all the staff. We have been recommending The Chester Hotel spa package to all our friends and family since and we will definitely be back for a visit soon!
