We arrived around 9:30am and were shown to the newly decorated spa area which was modern and bright. We were given our robes, slippers and towels before being taken to the small, yet nice changing rooms.
Mum and I made full use of the facilities including the indoor 15m swimming pool, the indoor sauna and steam room, as well as the outdoor oak barrel hot tub and outdoor sauna. There is also a tranquillity garden which looked lovely, but far too cold to sit out in at this time of year. There is a gym too, but we were there for total relaxation!
Once we’d enjoyed the facilities, we headed back out to the main spa area for a nice refreshment before our spa treatment at 11am. As part of the Ultimate Spa Day package, you could choose one 60 minute treatment – a full body massage, a prescription facial, or a full body hot stone massage. Mum and I both went for the hot stone massage and it was bliss!
After our spa treatments, we went back to the changing rooms to get ready and were then taken to a seating area upstairs in the hotel for our afternoon tea (also part of the Ultimate Spa Day package). We were offered endless amounts of tea, a glass of prosecco and a selection of sandwiches, scones and cakes – delightful! We sat there for a few hours chatting, enjoying some wine, and watching the hustle and bustle of the hotel as staff and guests prepared for a wedding that day.
To top it off, we both received an Elemis gift to take away which included two facial cloths and three Elemis samples.
It was such a lovely day and mum was really pleased with her birthday treat. We will definitely pay another visit to the spa at Thainstone House Hotel soon.
